Ky stops by with a request.

Tenement Building - Ground Floor(#2451RJ)
The ground floor of the apartment building is taken up mainly by the lobby, an open space with the front doors at one end and the elevator and the door leading to the stairwell at the other. The floor is covered in black and white tile in a checkerboard pattern, and the walls have been painted a neutral grey shade. A couch, two squashy armchairs, and two wooden chairs have been set up in a rough semi-circle around a square wooden coffee table, facing toward the front doors and positioned so as not to interfere with any traffic moving between there and the stairs. The furniture does not seem to be very old, but it has been well-worn in its short lifetime. A few potted plants have been set in corners, to give the old lobby a more welcoming atmosphere.
To the right of the main doors are mailboxes for building residents, and off to the left is the doorway into a cramped rental office (see +view), and other doors that lead to the building's large laundry room.

Ky has arrived.
Currently the moon is in the waning Full (Ahroun) Moon phase (80% full).

Full moon means that the Tenement lobby is practically deserted, with the only exceptions being the person on duty in the office, and Mouse, who has claimed one of the battered old couches and is currently slumped in it and grimacing.

A rather familiar face crosses onto the monitors just seconds before the door buzzes. Even as the button is pressed, Ky looks upward just enough to give the camera a full view of who's calling this evening.

Mouse's only change is to try and sit up a little straighter, and school that grimace. The person on duty in the office is the one that remotely unlocks the door, with a click audible to the visiting Shadow Lord.

Ky lets himself in once the door is unlocked, and turns slightly to push it closed behind him. His attention is set on scanning the lobby as the door clicks back into place, brows ticking upward in vague surprise when he finds the Walker elder present. "Mouse-rhya, hello," he offers as he steps away from the doorway.

"Hey," Mouse responds. By this point, the grimace is gone, and she's sitting straight, if not entirely naturally so. "Something we can do for you?"

"Actually," Ky begins, grin hitching upward a bit on one side of his face, doing a mediocre job of hiding curious concern over the theurge's posture. "I was... Not really expecting to actually see you. I have business with Nieve-rhya, but I... also do want to talk to you, too. I swear, I'm not here to beg for help with anything, either."

Mouse's eyebrows lift a little. "Yeah? Okay, well..." she gestures toward the couch and chairs. "Talk away. I'm not in any hurry right now."

"Yeah," Ky replies, drawing the word out as he starts toward the seating area. There's an almost adolescent lag to his pace and a look as if he's trying to collect his thoughts. "There's a thing, sort of. It might not actually be anything. But because I do have respect for you and your tribe, on the probably non-existent chance that it becomes a thing. I wanted to ask your permission first."

"I'm assuming," Mouse says dryly, "That you intend to tell me what this thing is first."

Ky nods before actually saying, "Yes." He takes a moment to sit and school his approach to something more grown up. "I had the opportunity to meet one of your kin," he starts, color running up his neck and into his ears. "We've hung out a bit, and I want to spend more time with her. But I felt it was important that... I ask you first. Before... And just in case there is still a chance with her."

"Christ," Mouse says, but she hasn't entirely lost that dryness. "What is it with Glass Walker kin? Okay, who is it? And for the record, thanks for coming to me about it."

Ky shrugs apologetically to Mouse's first question. "I'm sorry," he offers quietly. "Just... kind of happened. It's Sami. She came by the shop once to get her truck repaired. We hung out a bit and went out once, but..." He shrugs again, self deprecating the second time. "I probably screwed it all up, but it was important to me that I asked you first, before things went further."

"It's okay," Mouse says with a rueful shake of her head. "No, this is how you're supposed to do it. I've had a number of people that never bothered in the past, and it got them in hot water. It's fine by me, Ky, with the understanding that if it /does/ get more serious, by which I mean marriage and or baby serious--I know, I know, but I've got to bring it up--you'll come to me again to arrange things so that we can work out tribe. The last relationship between the Walkers and a Shadow Lord kin ended with her getting the kid without any discussion, for the record. Meantime, enjoy yourself. Just don't do anything I'm going to get pissed over."

Ky manages a look of both serious understanding and definite adolescent discomfort at the idea of making babies. While the idea had probably crossed his mind, hearing it from someone else isn't something he'd prepared for. "Thank you, Mouse-rhya," he says after a beat, in all awkward relief. "I promise you, despite whatever reputation the other Lords have shown here, I was taught to respect kin where I'm from. I won't treat her wrong."

"You won't," Mouse says, with easy conviction, "Because if you do, you'll be really unhappy." She gives him a crooked grin that's not entirely kidding. "Was there anything else?"

"Not really," the ragabash answers, meeting grin for grin. "Nothing of that sort. Just something I was wondering, Nieve-rhya advised I talk to you about because it's also personal. But I don't need to take up your time with it right now."

Mouse shrugs and once more gestures toward the otherwise empty lobby. "Up to you. As I said, I'm not exactly busy with anything."

Ky glances around, brows knitting together. "When I first got here," he starts, returning his attention to the elder garou, "you put a lot of effort and time into trying to help me. You saved my life, tried to keep me safe in different ways, helped destroy the things that were after me and Andrei. One thing you did for us was a Rite to change our names, and it didn't really work, but you still made an effort."

Mouse tips her head, regarding Ky with a look that's neutral enough, if clearly interested. She says nothing to interrupt him.

"I don't want you to think I'm ungrateful," Ky continues, flicking a glance up at Mouse. "I'm not that at all. I might've screwed up over the last almost year, a lot and badly, but I know what you did for me cost you and I wish there were some way to repay you. But... I wanted to ask, too, since that Rite didn't work, if I could... if it wouldn't interrupt too much or insult you on even some small level, return to using my family name. It's just... a thing. All I've got left of where I'm from."

"It wouldn't insult me," Mouse says slowly. "But I can't make promises for any spirits that might have witnessed it all the same. In that regard, it's up to your own soul searching. And keep in mind that you shouldn't until you're sure that old name wasn't passed around to anyone still alive."

Ky nods slowly, a deeper bobbing of acknowledgement and understanding. "Thank you, Mouse-rhya. I just... I needed to know. Because it's something I could hold onto, so to speak." He hesitates for a breath, then stands. "I know that you probably don't trust me as far as you can throw me, but you have my number if you ever need anything. Even if it's just an oil change in your van."
