Phone Calls
Aug. 3rd, 2012 09:46 pmKavi calls the Fury house.
There was a message left on the Greek House phone, last night. It was brief, just letting people know that Ex was safe, was with Kavi and Rina for the night, and that before she returned to the Furies, he wished to speak with someone about what happened. It's fairly early in the morning when the Fury House phone rings again.
Moros picks up almost immediately, as if the monster had been sitting there, staring -- glaring, probably -- at the phone. He growls out a brusque, "What."
"This is Kavi," says the voice on the other end. "Is Melodie there?"
"No," says Moros, after a moment. "Just me."
There's a brief pause before Kavi speaks again, and an indrawn breath. "Did you get the message, last night?"
"Yes," says the monster, unhelpfully. There's the sound of heavy breathing.
Again, there's a brief pause, and then, "Did Sue tell you what happened?"
More breathing on the other end of the line. Then: "No." A beat. "What happened?"
"I don't know all the details," Kavi answers. "But. Ex was at Edgewood. There was a problem. Something... something about throwing rocks at the house. But Dagny took her sketchbook, threatened to cull her, and banned her from the place." It's obvious, as he speaks, that he works hard to keep his anger under control. "Ex ran away. We found her. She wants to come back to you, and I want to let her. But you need to get her sketchbook back. And you need to make sure that doesn't happen, again. No threats."
"_Dagny_." The name comes out in a barely coherent growl, dripping hate. More heavy breathing.
"Dagny," Kavi repeats, as though answering a question, and there's no small amount of anger there. "Can you do that? Can you get the sketchbook back? Can you make sure that this doesn't happen, again?"
"We'll... deal with it." The monster seems to have gotten a little more under control, though the tone of his voice suggests dire things for a certain Get of Fenris. "How... is Ex all right?"
"She is," Kavi answers. "She came with us. We had dinner and she. She did her laundry. After breakfast, she'll be ready to come back to you. That's her choice."
"...Good. That's good." A long pause, and then, very gruffly: "Thankyou."
"I--" Kavi starts, breaks off, and then there's a pause before he begins again. "We'll bring her a little later. After breakfast."
"Later," repeats the monster brusquely, and hangs up.
